Why is the previous information from my Zip® or Jaz® disk displayed on my screen in Windows® 98/95/Me after I insert a different disk?

Windows® 98/95/Me may not refresh the directory or your Zip® or Jaz® disk when you eject and insert a different disk. Use the following steps to refresh the directory of the current disk:


STEP ONE - Press the F5 key to refresh the My Computer window
  1. Double-click the My Computer icon.

  2. Insert a different Zip or Jaz disk into your drive.

  3. Press the F5 key to refresh the information.

      If the directory refreshed, you may now use your disk.

      If the directory did not refresh, please continue with the next step.


STEP TWO - Eject the disk using the software eject option
  1. Double-click the My Computer icon.

  2. Right-click the Zip or Jaz icon.

  3. Click Eject.

  4. Insert a different disk into your drive.

      If the directory refreshed, you may now use your disk.

      If the directory did not refresh, please continue with the next step.


STEP THREE - Rename the disk with a unique disk label
  1. Insert the disk you wish to change into your drive.

  2. Double-click the My Computer icon.

  3. Right-click the Zip or Jaz icon.

  4. Choose Properties.

  5. Type the name you wish in the Label text box.



  6. Click OK and close the window.

      If the directory refreshed, you may now use your disk.

      If the directory did not refresh, there may be a problem with your operating system. Contact the operating system manufacturer for information on reinstalling the operating system.
