BAM! KAPOW! ... PocketZip
A man in a dark trenchcoat ducks furtively up a deserted alley, glancing nervously over his shoulder. He's sweating, panting for breath - he knows they are coming! There should be terror in his eyes (after all, he has the fate of the world in his hands) and yet, as he turns all we see is a look of calm responsibility. He pulls a small, metallic disk from his pocket and rolls it about in his hand. The edge of desperation in his eyes suggests this is what they are after, that this tiny object has the power to change the fate of mankind
It is usually about this point that those in the cinema audience with any computer nouse generally roll their eyes knowingly and nudge their companions. Even the greatest superspy or sci-fi hero would have problems downloading files large enough to contain all the secrets of the known universe onto a disk that small. Even if such disks did exist, surely they couldn't possibly hold any significant amount of information or could they?
Iomega has just made the future a reality with the release of its new PocketZip drives and disks. A portable, take-anywhere media ideal for storing the huge amounts of stuff vital to the survival of any would-be secret agent, PocketZip disks are about half the size of a credit card and yet can hold an amazing 40MB of information - the equivalent of more than 25 traditional floppy disks (and in this day and age, we all know a floppy just doesn't cut it!)
Developed to change the way people use and think about portable computing, the PocketZip family of portable storage products provides an unprecedented low-cost, high-capacity removable solution for storing data on-the-run. A single PocketZip disk can store up to 40 near 35 millimetre quality photos and several Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, several hundred Excel or Word documents.
Iomega's PocketZip PC Card Drive - a removable drive which fits into the PC Card slot of a notebook computer - takes this portability to the extreme by enabling users not only to carry around valuable information on their PocketZip disks, but also to comfortably carry the tools they need to read it, even in a shirt pocket!
Available now from leading computer and department stores, PocketZip drives and disks are available in two basic formats. The PocketZip PC Card Drive - valued at $449 - can extend the use of notebooks and sub-notebook computers, while at $599 (or $699 with mobile computer adaptors), the digital camera bundle is ideal for anyone wanting to store, transport or stash their digital photos. A ten pack of PocketZip disks is available for $229. For further information contact Iomega on (02) 9925 0700 or visit www.iomega.com.
