Iomega's REV Drive Celebrates First Birthday With Exciting Disk Giveaway

REV Drive Buyers Get a Free REV Disk

SAN DIEGO, May 16, 2005 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE: IOM), a global leader in data storage celebrating 25 years in business, today announced a special offer for buyers of the Iomega® REV™ 35GB* drive. To celebrate the REV drive's first birthday, Iomega is saying "thank you" with something even better than an extra slice of birthday cake: a free Iomega REV disk that gives users an extra 35GB to 90GB of storage capacity.**

Iomega's free REV disk promotion features a mail-in rebate for a free REV disk for every REV drive purchased from May 15 through July 3, 2005. Eligible drives*** include all retail-packaged REV drives purchased from catalog, etail, retail and registered VAR partners. This offer does not apply to drives purchased on iomega.com or iomegadirect.com.

Iomega REV solutions have been winning awards since the first product was launched in April 2004, providing users with a faster, more reliable, and more durable alternative to tape backup and optical products. REV removable disk technology is also ideal for people who routinely use large files or need to back up an entire PC, including advanced home users, small businesses and service bureaus.

"Today, nearly one out of every three REV drives is purchased for tape replacement," said Ron Gillies, vice president of sales and business development, Iomega Corporation. "But REV drives are also replacing other backup alternatives like optical drives, and many are being used as the customer's first backup device ever. I think that's the ultimate compliment for the REV drive: it is so simple to use and so fast that it is spurring a lot of customers to protect their data for the first time. And with this new promotion, buyers of REV drives, which come with one disk, get another disk free, giving them 70GB to 180GB of removable capacity with their new REV drive."

Iomega's REV drive solutions have won more than 15 awards worldwide in the first year of availability, including PC Magazine's Editor's Choice Award, CeBIT America - Best of Show, and American Photo's Editor's Choice Award.

State-of-the-Art Backup and Portable Storage
For network managers, the REV drive transforms the backup process and makes system or file-recovery tasks faster, easier and less costly in terms of both labor and network downtime. Iomega's REV drive not only outperforms tape alternatives like DDS-4, DAT-72, VXA®, AIT-1, and DLT VS80, it costs less, as well.

In home and small business settings, the REV drive also shines as an alternative to external hard drives. Users can expand their storage capacity in affordable 35GB increments (on PCs, up to 90GB of compressed capacity with included software), as well as archive data and transport even the largest of data files with ease.

For service bureaus, REV disks make great project disks because the durable 35GB disks are inherently more rugged than portable hard drives and not susceptible to scratches like optical media. The REV system locates the most sensitive components-the read/write heads and electronics-in the REV drive itself, not in the disk, which protects those components from abuse.

The 35GB REV disk is smaller than a deck of playing cards (10 x 77 x 75 mm) and delivers exceptional read-write performance of up to 25 MB/sec. (maximum native transfer rate) with much greater durability than tape-an estimated one million rewrites. For businesses that are used to budgeting for the replacement cost of worn-out tapes, REV disks offer an unbeatable value at about U.S. $49.95 per unit when purchased in a four-pack (available individually for $59.95).

Bundled Iomega Automatic Backup Pro Software for a Total Solution
Included with each Iomega REV drive is Iomega Automatic Backup Pro software for file-level backup as well as powerful disaster recovery. Once configured, the "no-touch" software automatically backs up specified files (including multiple revisions) continuously or at scheduled intervals. Professional-level features include up to 2.6:1 compression, providing up to 90GB** of compressed capacity per REV disk, and AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) file encryption. Disaster recovery features allow for live or scheduled system backups within Windows-with no system shutdowns or reboots.

Industry software support for the Iomega REV drive has been growing since its release in April 2004. Major storage software vendors in the Windows, UNIX, and Linux communities support the REV drive, including Computer Associates® BrightStor ARCserve Backup, Yosemite™ TapeWare, Dantz® Retrospect, and Veritas™ Backup Exec. Iomega continues to work with others to certify compatibility with their solutions.
