Rugged, Dependable
Zip Disks Provide Maximum Protection For Tax Records
and Other Important Digital Data
SAN DIEGO,
Calif., March 3, 2003 - Tax season is here, and
many Americans are using their personal computers to
compile their electronic forms, schedules, calculations
and other confidential tax information. Iomega Corporation
(NYSE: IOM), a global leader in reliable data storage,
believes that storing and protecting tax data is just
as important as creating it. To safeguard those important
files, now through April 19th, consumers can purchase
an Iomega Zip drive at participating retail stores and
online e-tailers, or at http://www.iomega.com/buyitnow/taxtime.html,
for as low as $49.99 after an instant and mail-in rebate.
Losing important digital data to
a computer system crash, hacker, or computer virus is
all too common today. Backing up and saving master copies
of income tax records or other important financial files
to an external storage device like an Iomega Zip®
drive is the easiest and most important step in protecting
digital files for future reference. Iomega Zip disks
also provide password protection for securing confidential
data to a disk.
A new national survey of the U.S.
online population, commissioned by Iomega Corporation,
found that of the online respondents that use a computer
to prepare their annual income taxes electronically,
more than 50% of those surveyed save their electronic
tax records to their computer’s hard drive. Yet
more than 44% of those respondents had lost important
data to a hard drive crash or computer virus.
“We are urging taxpayers this
season to protect their critical tax data by proactively
storing and protecting their tax records on an Iomega
Zip disk,” explains Sean Burke, vice president
and general manager, Iomega mobile and desktop solutions.
“Saving your income tax and other important files
on an Iomega Zip disk should be the final step in completing
your annual tax return.”
Iomega Zip drives are available in
100MB, 250MB and 750MB capacities, in external USB-powered,
SCSI drives, or external Firewire connections. With
Iomega’s special limited time offer, consumers
can purchase a 100MB Zip drive for as low as $49.99,
a 250MB Zip drive for as low as $99.99, and the new
750MB Zip drive for as low as $129.99. Rebates are subject
to certain terms and conditions; visit http://www.iomega.com/promos/promos.html
for more details. Iomega Automatic Backup software,
which is an easy-to-use software solution that allows
users to automatically back up copies of computer files
to a Zip drive or other Iomega product, is included
with every purchase of a Zip drive, or is available
as a download from the Iomega Web site www.iomega.com
for $39.95.
