"Best of CeBIT America Award" Winner Works With All Major Optical Formats
SAN DIEGO,
September 8, 2003 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE:
IOM), a global leader in data storage, today announced
that the Iomega Super DVD 4X Internal Drive is now shipping
worldwide. The new drive helps put an end to consumer
confusion over competing DVD technologies by supporting
all major DVD and CD standards in a single drive.
A Universal
CD and DVD Writer
The Iomega Super DVD 4X drive received the “Best
of CeBIT America Award” for personal hardware
at the CeBIT America technology trade show held in June
2003 in New York City. Judges were impressed by its
ability to record all major CD and DVD formats, including
DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW, DVD-RAM, CD-R, and CD-RW.
“The Iomega Super DVD Drive
is exactly what DVD users are asking for – a single
optical drive that supports all the major disc formats
in use today,” said Sean Burke, vice president,
mobile and desktop products, Iomega Corporation. “Iomega
also has added a software suite that has everything
users need to capture, share and protect their valuable
digital content.”
Included Software
The new Iomega Super DVD 4X internal drive includes
a DVD wizard that automatically selects the right software
application paired with the right type of disc to eliminate
consumer confusion resulting from the seven different
media formats currently in use.
Bundled software includes Iomega®
Automatic Backup software, a PC Magazine Editor’s
Choice for real-time backup software (June 17, 2003,
edition). Iomega Automatic Backup provides continuous
real-time backup to any drive letter, optionally saves
multiple revisions and keeps multiple backup sets on
different destination drives, allows users to exclude
files by file type, and can perform scheduled backups
and even cache backups temporarily when the destination
drive is not available. Iomega Automatic Backup is also
available separately at www.iomega.com for $39.95.
Also included is Iomega's HotBurn Pro® software, which complements Windows® XP by adding true drag-and-drop file recording, an integrated console interface, integrated CD copying and CD imaging, compilation creation, and a jewel case editor. Other features include a graphical audio layout editor; pop, click and hiss removal filters; and bootable CD creation.
To complete the solution, Iomega Super DVD also includes Sonic MyDVD™ video-editing software, Sonic™ Cineplayer software for the highest quality video playback, MusicMatch™ Jukebox music management software and Adobe® ActiveShare photo management software.
Pricing and Availability
The Iomega® Super DVD 4X Internal Drive is now shipping
worldwide for $279.95 and is also available online at
www.iomega.com. An external version of the Iomega®
Super DVD Drive is expected to begin shipping in mid-September
for $359.95. (All prices are U.S. suggested retail.)
