"Best of CeBIT America Award" Winner Works With All Major Optical Formats
SAN DIEGO,
September 22, 2003 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE:
IOM), a global leader in data storage, today announced
that the Iomega Super DVD 4X External Drive is now shipping
worldwide, joining the internal version which began
shipping earlier this month. With a Hi-Speed USB (USB
2.0) interface and support for all major DVD and CD
standards, Iomega’s new external DVD drive ends
the confusion over competing DVD technologies, giving
consumers a single drive that works with all major optical
formats.
A Universal
CD and DVD Writer
The Iomega Super DVD 4X drive received the “Best
of CeBIT America Award” for personal hardware
at the CeBIT America technology trade show held in June
2003 in New York City. Judges were impressed by its
ability to record all major CD and DVD formats, including
DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW, DVD-RAM, CD-R, and CD-RW.
“The Iomega Super DVD Drive is exactly what DVD
users are asking for – a single optical drive
that supports all the major disc formats in use today,”
said Sean Burke, vice president and general manager
of mobile and desktop solutions at Iomega Corporation.
“Iomega also has added a software suite that has
what users need to capture, share and protect their
valuable digital content. So unlike other DVD drives
that support only one format, such as +RW or –RW,
leaving the user to worry about which format their DVD
player can read, the Iomega Super DVD drive records
to all industry formats.”
Included Software
The new Iomega Super DVD 4X External drive comes with
an Iomega-created DVD wizard that helps the consumer
choose the right type of disc for a particular task,
effortlessly negotiating among the seven different disc
standards currently in use.
Bundled software includes Iomega® Automatic Backup
software, a PC Magazine Editor’s Choice for real-time
backup software (June 17, 2003, edition). Iomega Automatic
Backup provides continuous real-time backup to any drive
letter, optionally saves multiple revisions and keeps
multiple backup sets on different destination drives,
allows users to exclude files by file type, and can
perform scheduled backups and even cache backups temporarily
when the destination drive is not available. Iomega
Automatic Backup is also available separately at www.iomega.com
for $39.95.
Also included is Iomega’s HotBurn Pro® software,
which complements Windows® XP by adding true drag-and-drop
file recording, an integrated console interface, audio
and MP3 CD creation, CD/DVD copying and imaging, and
a jewel case editor. Other advanced features include
a graphical audio layout editor; pop, click and hiss
removal filters; and bootable CD creation.
To complete the solution, Iomega Super DVD also includes
Sonic MyDVD™ video-editing software, Sonic™
Cineplayer software for the highest quality video playback,
MusicMatch™ Jukebox music management software
and Adobe® ActiveShare photo management software.

The Iomega® Super DVD 4X External Drive is now shipping
