New Iomega® HDD
60GB Portable Hard Drive Now Shipping
****
Capacity, Software and Performance For Easy Full-System
Backups
SAN DIEGO,
January 6, 2003 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE: IOM),
a global leader in portable data storage, today released
the new Iomega® HDD 60GB Portable Hard Drive, an
easily transportable drive for mobile users that includes
software designed for worry-free protection of both
applications and data.
The new Iomega HDD 60GB Portable
Hard Drive, which will be on display this week at the
Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, includes
the unbeatable combination of Symantec Norton Ghost
2003 software--for full-system disaster recovery--and
Iomega® Automatic Backup software--for on-the-fly
incremental backups. The combination gives users a sleek,
dependable external hard drive that is also an integrated
high-speed storage solution for protecting their entire
computing environment in one convenient package.
"External hard drives have exploded
into an exciting storage category in recent months because
low-cost external drives can extend the life of a personal
computer and vastly improve the computing experience,"
said Michael Johnson, general manager, optical and sourced
products, Iomega Corporation. "The new Iomega HDD
60GB Portable Hard Drive gives users the space they
need for everything from editing digital video clips
to capturing and holding a disk image of their internal
hard drive."
Hardware
The new Iomega HDD 60GB Portable Hard Drive is a sleek,
portable device about the size and shape of a PDA (drive
only; dimensions when attached to interface are 7.5"x3.5"x0.7").
Weighing about 8 oz. (231 g), the 4200RPM drive is available
in either Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0, backwards compatible
with USB 1.1) or FireWire® configurations and the
interfaces are easily swappable so that the drive can
be used with different operating systems.
Software
With the included Norton Ghost 2003, a $70 value, users
of Iomega external hard drives can capture an exact
image of the PC's main hard drive, including all system
files, settings and installed software. Should disaster
strike, the disk image is simply copied back to the
replacement drive-no tedious reinstallation and reconfiguration
of software, no Internet downloads of software updates
and patches, just an uneventful return to a functional
personal computer.
Between full-system backups, Iomega
Automatic Backup software keeps users protected. This
proprietary Iomega software solution provides automatic
incremental backups of designated directories. Iomega
Automatic Backup Software also lets users create multiple
backup configurations, set up scheduled backups as needed,
exclude unwanted files (e.g., .tmp files) from their
backups, maintain multiple file revisions, and much
more.
Availability
The new Iomega HDD 60GB Portable Hard Drive, shipping
now, is available in the U.S., Canada and Latin America,
and online at www.iomega.com. Pricing with included
Hi-Speed USB interface (USB 2.0) is $379.95, and with
FireWire® interface is $399.95 (prices are U.S.
suggested retail).
About Iomega HDD External Hard Drives

For desktop users, the Iomega HDD Desktop Hard Drive offers 40GB, 80GB, or 120GB of rugged, reliable storage in a slightly larger form factor; it too lets users swap between USB 2.0 (backwards compatible with USB 1.1) and FireWire interfaces with optional cable-integrated interfaces.
