Iomega Ships New External CD-RW 40x12x48 FireWire Drive

SAN DIEGO, April 30, 2002- Iomega Corporation (NYSE: IOM), a global leader in reliable portable data storage, today announced the U.S. arrival of the new Iomega® CD-RW 40x12x48 FireWire® drive for retail and enterprise sales. Combining the high performance of native FireWire (IEEE 1394) with appealing external design and great software, Iomega's new CD-RW drive makes capturing and sharing music, photos, and other digital content fast and easy.

"Iomega CD-RW drives have become the leading external CD-RW drives on the market today because they deliver performance, style, and ease of use," said Werner Heid, president and CEO, Iomega Corporation. "Customers know they can expect a reliable and well designed product from Iomega, and we are constantly striving to improve the overall user experience. This new FireWire drive, bundled with our proprietary Iomega HotBurn software, is perhaps the best package yet for performance-oriented use."

As Iomega's new performance leader in CD-RW, the external Iomega CD-RW 40x12x48 FireWire drive offers amazing CD-burning speed and simplicity. With a rated DAE (digital audio extraction) speed of 32x, ripping or burning a 60-minute CD-R with the new Iomega CD-RW drive takes only about three minutes. Built-in buffer under-run protection lets users confidently burn CDs even when they are using their computer for other tasks.

Included with the new Iomega CD-RW drive is Iomega® HotBurn™ Pro software (PC) and HotBurn™ software (Mac® OS). HotBurn software's simple and powerful console interface helps users complete most CD-burning tasks in just two easy steps. HotBurn software also complements the basic CD-RW support in Windows XP, adding true drag-and-drop file recording, an integrated console interface, integrated CD copying and CD imaging functions, compilation creation, and a jewel case and CD cover editor. HotBurn™ Pro software for Windows adds a graphical audio layout editor; pop, click and hiss removal filters; bootable CD creation; and an advanced data manager for full control over file system and multi-session recording options. Additional bundled software includes Adobe® ActiveShare™ and MUSICMATCH® Jukebox.

The Iomega® CD-RW 40x12x48 FireWire drive ($299.95 U.S. estimated retail price before rebate/mail-in offer) with Iomega® HotBurn™ software is available now at retail, distribution, in catalog, and online at www.iomegadirect.com.
