The following is a full biography on Werner Heid:
WERNER T. HEID
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
IOMEGA CORPORATION
Werner Heid joins Iomega with more than 16 years of
broad management experience and a proven track record
in growing businesses, market shares and profits worldwide.
Known for his leadership in promoting and executing
change, he has demonstrated the ability to solve major
business challenges and return companies to growth and
profitability. Heid was named to Iomega's board of directors
in May 2000 and became the company's chief executive
officer in June 2001.
Heid became president of Proxima Corp., a manufacturer
of multimedia digital projectors, in 1998. His tenure
coincided with a major turnaround at Proxima, as its
market share rose 50 percent and the company returned
to growth and profitability. In June 2000, Heid played
a key role in negotiating a merger with InFocus Corp.
At InFocus he served as executive vice president of
sales, marketing and service worldwide, responsible
for InFocus' principle business units in Americas, Europe
and Asia; its worldwide marketing, product and service
strategy; its OEM business unit; and the newly created
Home Entertainment business unit.
Prior to his experience at Proxima, Heid spent almost
13 years with Hewlett-Packard (HP). As the European
marketing manager for the LaserJet Solutions Group and
InkJet Supplies Unit, he helped grow LaserJet into a
$1 billion business and increased market share from
35 percent to 53 percent. Based in Germany, he also
earned the highest "people management" score
in HP's Peripheral Group Europe.
In 1994, Heid moved to the United States to become
HP's worldwide marketing manager for the office products
division. While there, he successfully established two
new hardcopy businesses for HP: copiers and All-in-One
(AiO). Within six weeks of its launch, HP's copier business
had captured 12 percent market share. AiO, after fighting
for category establishment in retail channels, exceeded
initial forecasts and generated $200 million in revenues
in its first nine months.
Heid's 16 years in computer-related businesses have
given him in-depth experience in all business and consumer
channels ranging from high-end, value-add system integrators
to retail to e-direct channels. His years of marketing
and management experience are complemented by a master's
degree in electrical engineering from Karlsruhe University
in Germany.
Heid has enjoyed living and working in Europe, South
America and the U.S. and is fluent in English, German
and Spanish.
