FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Iomega And
Ritz Camera Centers Begin New Retail Agreement
Iomega FotoShow And Other Iomega
Products To Debut At Ritz Camera Centers Nationwide
ROY, Utah,
April 10, 2001 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE: IOM),
a global leader in data management solutions, today
announced that Ritz Camera Centers, the largest camera
store chain in the United States, will carry Iomega
products throughout the U.S. beginning in mid-April.
The agreement marks an extensive new retail opportunity
for Iomega and offers customers of Ritz new choices
for storing and managing their digital content.
"Ritz Camera is an ideal outlet
for Iomega digital imaging products such as FotoShow
and our LifeWorks Photo Album software," said Herb
Scales, senior vice president of sales, Iomega Corporation.
"This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase the
quality and convenience of Zip-based products to digital
imaging customers who may not be familiar with Iomega's
prominence in computer and electronics retail outlets."
Initial plans call for the Iomega®
FotoShowTM digital image center and Zip® 100MB and
250MB disks to be sold at more than 250 Ritz Camera
Centers nationwide. In addition, 18 Ritz Camera Photronic
Depot Superstores will also carry Iomega's 340MB Microdrive
miniature hard drives, Iomega Photo Album software and
PredatorTM CD-RW drives. The Predator CD-RW will be
the first CD-RW drive offered at Ritz Camera Centers.
All five products will be included in the in-store catalog
at all Ritz Camera Centers, allowing customers to order
the products for overnight delivery to the store. The
products will also be available through http://www.ritzcamera.com.
"With the growing number of
consumers using digital cameras, products like the Iomega
FotoShow will play a progressively vital role in the
photography industry," said David Dimont, director
of purchasing, Ritz Camera Centers. "Digital photographers
need easy ways to store and display their images, and
this agreement gives our customers new options that
move beyond flash media."
About the Iomega
FotoShow digital image center
Iomega's FotoShow digital image center gives consumers
a Zip drive for their TV, a small, simple and affordable
solution for sharing their digital photo collections
without a computer. Its built-in CompactFlashTM (MicrodriveTM-compatible)
and SmartMediaTM slots provide digital camera owners
with one-button transfer of camera images directly to
the internal Zip® 250MB drive. Connecting to a TV
via composite (RCA) or S-Video ports, the FotoShow player
also comes with a remote control for convenient editing
and viewing.
Editing features include red-eye
removal, one-touch instant photo fixing, cropping, zooming,
image rotation and artistic templates. With an optional
12-volt car adapter, the FotoShow viewer doubles as
a mobile image station for downloading digital camera
photos in the field, freeing up space on expensive solid
state memory cards.
The FotoShow player's USB port allows
it to operate as a 250MB Zip® drive when connected
to any USB-enabled computer. Users can then transfer
images to the FotoShow player from any source - including
converted Powerpoint® presentations, scanned photos,
and photos saved on hard drives or downloaded from the
Internet - for television viewing in the home, classroom,
or boardroom.
