FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Iomega Extends Into Network Attached Storage (NAS) Enterprise Solutions

High-Capacity NAS Servers to Include Iomega QuikSync 3 For Automatic Backup Of Network Clients

ROY, Utah, March 26, 2001 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE: IOM), a global leader in data management solutions, today announced the introduction of the Iomega® DataSafeTM series of mid-range 160GB and 320GB network attached storage (NAS) servers. Working with Maxtor® Corporation (NASDAQ: MXTR), a leading supplier of NAS storage solutions, as a key supplier and incorporating Windows® 2000 technology, Iomega's new line of DataSafe servers extends the reach of Iomega storage solutions to the heart of the enterprise network.

Iomega DataSafe NAS servers, expected to ship worldwide in the second quarter, are designed to provide highly reliable, cross-platform file serving without the expense and complexity of general-purpose servers. With general-purpose servers costing two to three times as much, Iomega DataSafe NAS servers will deliver excellent performance and scalability for as little as $16 per gigabyte.

"Economical and efficient NAS servers are a natural extension of Iomega's product offering, and our brand strength and quality reputation in the storage sector will be invaluable in the growing NAS market," said Doug Collier, senior vice president, marketing and product management, Iomega Corporation. "Our enterprise sales team is well-positioned to introduce these products to IT decision-makers, and Iomega software and support will add value to what is a superb server."

"Our goal is to make network storage more pervasive, and this is a logical expansion of our presence in the NAS market," said Mike Cordano, executive vice president, Maxtor. "The combination of Maxtor, the leader in hard drives, and Iomega, the leader in removable storage, working together on NAS products will give our customers what they want: value, interoperability, manageability and performance."

A 50-seat license for Iomega QuikSyncTM 3 automatic client backup software, valued at $600, will be included with Iomega DataSafe 320GB NAS servers, allowing IT professionals to easily implement automatic backup through their network. A 20-seat license will be included with the 160GB NAS server. With QuikSync 3 software, files saved to specified folders on a local hard drive or mapped network drive are automatically copied to a separate backup location such as a DataSafe server. QuikSync 3 automatic client backup software also enables IT professionals to schedule convenient backups that require no network downtime.

The Iomega DataSafe 320GB NAS server will sell for a suggested price of $4,999, providing network attached storage for less than $16 per gigabyte. The 160GB NAS server will have a suggested price of $3299, less than $21 per gigabyte.

About Iomega DataSafe NAS file servers
Iomega's DataSafe family of NAS file servers, with Maxtor as key supplier, is interoperable with Windows, Linux/UNIX, Macintosh and NetWare clients and can be monitored remotely through simple network management protocol (SNMP). DataSafe NAS file servers install in less than 10 minutes with no network downtime and provide centralized management through a familiar, easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI). Three of the 1U (1.75 inch high), 320GB file servers hold nearly one terabyte of data in just five and a quarter inches of industry-standard rack space. All DataSafe NAS file servers provide network status reporting, automatic e-mail alerts and RAID 0, 1 and 5 redundancy for data protection. Features such as dual 10/100 Ethernet ports, Gigabit Ethernet (320GB model), multiple fans, a journaling file system and integrated UPS support ensure high performance, system availability and fault tolerance.
