FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
IOMEGA CEO BRUCE ALBERTSON TO BE HONORED AS BOOMER
ESIASON FOUNDATION 2001 MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
ROY, Utah, March 7, 2001
- The Boomer Esiason Foundation today announced that
Bruce Albertson, president and chief executive officer
of Utah-based Iomega Corporation, has been named as
the Foundation's 2001 Most Valuable Player.
The Most Valuable Player Award recognizes outstanding
individual contributions to the Foundation. The Foundation
was created in 1993 by former professional football
star Boomer Esiason and is dedicated to providing financial
support for research aimed at finding a cure for cystic
fibrosis, heightening education and awareness of cystic
fibrosis, and providing a better quality of life for
those affected by cystic fibrosis.
"An MVP is someone whose individual contribution
is vital to the overall success of the team. Bruce's
leadership and dedication ultimately benefit those afflicted
with Cystic Fibrosis, and that's why he is our most
valuable player," said Boomer Esiason, founder
of the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
Iomega has committed $500,000 to the Boomer Esiason
Foundation through donations, product sales, promotions
and other contributions.
"I applaud the Foundation for its ongoing effort
on behalf of those affected by Cystic Fibrosis,"
said Albertson. "I'm proud of Iomega employees
and our customers for supporting this cause, and I know
that every donation helps improve the quality of life
for children afflicted by this disease."
Albertson will be honored at the Eighth Annual Booming
Celebration, to be held this Saturday, March 10, 2001
in New York City.
In addition to supporting the Boomer Esiason Foundation,
charitable efforts by Iomega and its employees in 2000
included donations to Weber State University and assistance
with medical expenses for a former Olympic gymnast hopeful
paralyzed while practicing. In addition to contributions
to the United Way and Toys for Tots programs, Iomega
donated computer hardware to Weber County public schools
and contributed toward better school buses in Roy City
and services for disabled children in Weber County schools.
Iomega is the primary sponsor of the Weber County Boy's
and Girl's Club located on the Iomega corporate campus.
