FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Leader in Data Management Solutions Building on No.
2 Position in U.S.
After-Market CD-RW Sales
ROY, Utah, February 21, 2001
- Iomega Corporation (NYSE: IOM), a global leader in
data management solutions, today announced that worldwide
shipments of its CD-RW drives now exceed one million
units. From its entry into the CD-RW market just 18
months ago, Iomega has risen to the No. 2 position in
U.S. after-market sales of CD-RW drives.
"Iomega introduced its CD-RW drives into a crowded,
rapidly growing market segment," said Doug Collier,
senior vice president, marketing and product management,
Iomega Corporation. "Rising to No. 2 in U.S. retail
sales and hitting the million drive mark are exciting
accomplishments and are a tribute to the power of the
Iomega brand. Our strong history of delivering quality
storage solutions is enabling Iomega to expand its product
mix and continue providing customers with value-added
storage solutions."
The latest addition to the Iomega CD-RW family is the
award-winning PredatorTM 4x4x6x USB external drive (8x4x32x
with FireWire® interface when available). Iomega's
Predator CD-RW breaks the mold of traditionally heavy,
brick-like external drives with a design that is sleek,
lightweight and stylish.
A leader in removable storage, Iomega began marketing
CD-RW drives in August 1999. Since then, Iomega has
expanded its storage product offering to include multiple
solutions to meet the needs of a wider variety of customers.
In addition to CD-RW, Iomega is also marketing the Iomega
340MB MicrodriveTM and will shortly begin to market
the newly announced Iomega CompactFlashTM and SmartMediaTM
cards in many capacities.
Iomega CD-RW drives complement Iomega's flagship Zip®
technology, performing such tasks as burning music CDs
and archiving digital content. By comparison, Iomega
Zip products continue to be the most durable and easy-to-use
solution for day-to-day management of important working
data files.

Four Iomega CD-RW drives are available worldwide, two
