FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PocketZip Media To Provide Secure,
Low-Cost, Durable Audio Storage
ROY, Utah,
October 9, 2000 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE:IOM),
a global leader in data management solutions, today
announced that the Iomega(r) PocketZip(tm) drive will
soon make its debut in the jazPiper CVR40U PocketZip(tm)
Digital Audio Player from Richfield Innovations Pte
Ltd. The jazPiper CVR40U player is being shown this
month at PC Expo in Tokyo and SMAU in Milan, and will
have its official product launch at Fall Comdex in Las
Vegas this November.
The jazPiper CVR40U PocketZip(tm)
Digital Audio Player has a translucent body with snap-on
covers that are available in a wide variety of colors.
Key features include compatibility with MP3 and Microsoft(r)
Windows Media(tm) Format; secure, low-cost, durable
storage using 40MB PocketZip disks; fast USB connectivity;
large backlit display; and customizable DSP settings.
The jazPiper CVR40U player will ship with one 40MB PocketZip
disk and a version of the popular MusicMatch Jukebox
software specially tailored for easy file transfers
from the computer to the player.
Richfield Innovations has announced
that the jazPiper player, the latest digital audio player
to feature PocketZip(tm) removable storage, is scheduled
for availability in Europe this December. Other manufacturers
who have announced digital audio players using PocketZip
include Addonics Technologies Corporation, Varo Vision
Co., OptoMedia Corporation, LG International Corp.,
Rexon Technologies, Frontier Labs, and I-Jam Multimedia.
Sensory Science released the first PocketZip-based digital
audio player, the rave:mp 2300, in July 2000, and Iomega's
HipZip(tm) digital audio player shipped to retailers
in September 2000.
About PocketZip(tm)
Iomega's 40MB PocketZip(tm) disks break the price barrier
for digital audio storage. At a cost of about $10 per
disk when purchased in a 10-pack, PocketZip disks are
the affordable new alternative to flash memory cards,
which at today's prices typically cost about $80 for
32MB of storage. PocketZip disks are approximately one-quarter
the size of CD audio discs, are encased in a metal shell
for better durability than a CD, can store more minutes
of music than an audio CD using the Microsoft Windows
Media(tm) Format, and are serialized to enable the digital
rights management (DRM) of licensed content.
