FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LifeWorks( Photo Album Software Runs
from
a Zip® Disk And Leaves No Trace on the PC
ROY, Utah,
November 6, 2000 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE:IOM),
a global leader in data management solutions, today
announced its innovative new LifeWorks( line of software
products with the introduction of the LifeWorks Photo
Album. Using Iomega's Active Disk technology to run
entirely from a Zip(r) disk, LifeWorks software applications
eliminate the installation process and leave no trace
on the PC, making it easier for consumers to carry portable,
self-contained software applications.
The Iomega LifeWorks( Photo Album
lets consumers easily print photos, organize slideshows,
and e-mail images to friends and family. With Photo
Album, users can also conserve expensive photo paper
by resizing and printing multiple images on a page.
The software enables users to easily create new Photo
Album Zip disks as needed. The LifeWorks Photo Album
will be available domestically in retail stores and
at www.iomegadirect.com in early 2001, with an estimated
retail price of $29.95. Additional LifeWorks products
will be introduced throughout the year.
"With the new LifeWorks brand,
Iomega has developed a simple, portable storage solution,
building on the capabilities of our popular Zip drives,"
said Germaine Ward, vice president of software and ebusiness
solutions, Iomega Corporation. "The LifeWorks Photo
Album is a perfect example of the capabilities of the
new Active Disk technology, allowing consumers to easily
share digital photos with friends, family members and
business associates wherever they go."
Iomega's Active Disk technology automatically
configures and launches the LifeWorks application whenever
the disk is inserted into a Zip drive. Application and
data reside on the same disk for true portability. The
LifeWorks application leaves no trace on the host PC
when the disk is removed, ensuring that the system's
original settings will not be affected.
LifeWorks( products are designed
for people who are looking for simple alternatives to
the install and uninstall routines required by most
software and for mobile users who need access to applications
from various locations. The applications are also appropriate
for computers with multiple users, allowing individuals
to maintain personal control of software and saved files
on Zip disks.
Active Disk technology will be included
in forthcoming versions of IomegaWare(. Active Disk
technology can also be installed from a LifeWorks disk.
Users do not have to install Active Disk more than once.
