FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Iomega Partners With Indepentent
Pictures For Club Iomega
ROY, Utah,
December 4, 2000 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE:
IOM), a global leader in data management solutions,
recently welcomed Independent Pictures. Inc., as an
initial partner in providing unique content to Club
Iomega, the company's recently announced multimedia
content site.
Iomega has entered into a Club Iomega
partnership with Independent Pictures, a leading New
York-based film production company. "Rather than
asking moviegoers to remember a different dot com address
for each movie, we are happy to make it easy for movie
fans to link to our content," said Reed Martin,
marketing director, Independent Pictures. "With
Club Iomega, we have a bridge linking us to a huge market
of tech savvy moviegoers. The Zip disks that hit store
shelves with pre-formatted links to Club Iomega represent
an important evolution in film marketing."
Independent Pictures will be partnering
with Club Iomega to promote its upcoming film noir "The
Prime Gig," starring Vince Vaughn, Julia Ormond,
and Ed Harris. Users linking to the Club Iomega site
will be able to view cast interviews, the "Prime
Gig" trailer, and other fun extras that movie fans
have come to expect from cutting-edge film-related Web
sites.
"With movie trailers and popular
star interviews, Independent Pictures provides a large
draw to Club Iomega for consumers," said Germaine
Ward, vice president software and eBusiness solutions,
Iomega Corporation. "Moviegoers will find the latest
movie content from Independent Pictures interesting
and easily accessible through Club Iomega."
Iomega Zip(r) disks destined for
retail sales worldwide, beginning in January, will also
contain a link to Club Iomega. Iomega ships nearly five
million Zip disks a month, offering Club Iomega partners
the opportunity to reach a broad customer base.
About Independent
Pictures
Independent Pictures is run by its Chairman Cary Woods
who produced the first efforts of leading filmmakers
like "Sixth Sense" writer-director M. Night
Shyamalan, "Election" writer-director Alexander
Payne, and "Kiss The Girls" director Gary
Fleder. Woods' tenure as a leading agent at The William
Morris Agency in Los Angeles and as a leading producer
at Miramax Films in New York have made him a force in
both the low-budget and mainstream film worlds. Woods
has championed the work of cutting-edge filmmakers like
Doug Liman ("Swingers," "Go"), Harmony
Korine ("Julien Donkey-Boy," "Gummo"),
and other new artists, securing his place as an icon
among screenwriters, directors, and actors drawn to
compelling and uncompromising cinema. Whether making
movies in the commercial mainstream or on the cutting-edge,
Woods' philosophy is that independent filmmaking is
less a financing strategy than a way to cultivate new
ideas, nurture fresh talent, and protect unique perspectives.
Defining his philosophy of creative risk-taking, 14
of the 18 films Woods has produced have been directed
and/or written by first-time filmmakers. Woods' eye
for talent and his access to a veritable family of artists
has given Independent Pictures access to some of the
top creative minds and tastemakers in any industry.
