FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Company Ships its Latest Consumer
Electronics Product Entry to Retailers
ROY, Utah,
October 16, 2000 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE:IOM),
a global leader in data management solutions, today
announced the domestic release of its latest consumer
electronics product, the FotoShow(tm) Digital Image
Center. Developed with the digital photography enthusiast
in mind, Iomega's FotoShow image center, with built-in
PictureIQ(tm) software, makes it easier than ever to
organize, edit, and share digital photos with family
and friends without the need for a PC.
With the FotoShow( image center,
Iomega is taking the digital camera user out of the
computer room and into the living room where the whole
family can immediately enjoy digital photography. "As
with all photography, people want to be able to view
their pictures right away, and they want to be able
to share them with their family and friends," said
Bruce Albertson, president and CEO, Iomega Corporation.
"FotoShow makes it easier than ever for them to
do that in the comfort of their family room and without
the use of a computer. In commercial applications, we
also see the FotoShow player as a natural imaging tool
for real estate offices and the insurance industry,
and we're excited about its prospects in hotels and
in other high-traffic tourism settings."
The FotoShow(tm) Digital Image Center's
PictureIQ software provides easy-to-use photo-editing
features via an included remote control. Red-eye removal,
one-touch instant photo fixing, cropping, zooming, image
rotation and the addition of artistic viewing templates
are among the many built-in features, all without the
complexity and expense of a computer. Digital camera
owners can also use the FotoShow image center's built-in
CompactFlash(tm) and SmartMedia(tm) slots for simple
one-button transfer of camera images to the internal
Zip(r) 250MB drive, freeing up expensive solid state
memory cards for taking digital pictures. Iomega also
offers an optional 12-volt car adaptor for use on the
road.
The FotoShow(tm) image center connects
to a TV through composite video (RCA) or S-Video ports,
or to a USB-equipped computer through the USB port.
When connected to a computer, it operates as a normal
Zip(r) drive and lets people easily transfer photos
from any source - including the hard drive, scanned
pictures, pictures attached to personal e-mails, or
those downloaded from the Internet - for later viewing
on the television.
"It's been very rewarding to
partner with Iomega to produce a product that fills
such a distinct consumer need - the desire to quickly
and easily share digital photos with groups of family
and friends," said Bill McCoy, president and CEO,
PictureIQ Corporation. "Our expertise in developing
embedded digital photography software enabled PictureIQ
to meet the FotoShow player's aggressive development
schedule. We're very pleased to have helped Iomega get
this breakthrough product into the hands of consumers
in time for the holiday buying season."
Available now from leading retailers
and distributors, or directly from Iomega at www.iomegadirect.com,
the FotoShow( image center has a suggested retail price
of $299.95.
Buy a FotoShow, Support the Boomer
Esiason Foundation
Through December 31, 2000, $15 from every purchase of
a FotoShow Digital Image Center will go to the Boomer
Esiason Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis. The Foundation
funds research to find a cure for this disease, which
afflicts young children. "Partnering with the Boomer
Esiason Foundation on this important cause is something
that we are pleased to do," said Albertson. "Through
their purchase, our consumers will be helping in the
search for a cure."
