FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ads Build Awareness Of Industry-Leading
Products And Introduce Innovative Consumer Devices
ROY, Utah,
October 17, 2000 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE:
IOM), a global leader in data management solutions,
today announced the launch of a new national television
advertising campaign designed to increase awareness
of the Iomega brand and its award-winning Zip(r) technology.
The campaign, produced by advertising agency Publicis
& Hal Riney, also introduces consumers to new Iomega
products that answer the increasing demand for affordable
digital music and photo solutions.
"Television is the perfect medium
to help consumers recognize the robust benefits of Iomega
products in an increasingly digital society," said
Bruce Albertson, president and CEO, Iomega Corporation.
"This campaign will increase awareness of the versatility
and numerous applications of a Zip drive. In addition,
the campaign will expose consumers to new Iomega products
that move beyond the computer room, such as HipZip and
FotoShow. Combining Zip technology with digital audio
players and other devices puts attractive new technologies
within financial reach of more people."
The commercials will begin airing
domestically in the U.S. on the following networks:
ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, VH-1, Discovery, USA and other national
television networks and cable channels this week. The
multi-million dollar campaign marks Iomega's return
to high-visibility advertising and is targeted to appeal
to a broad consumer audience.
The campaign features five 30-second
spots, three of which build brand awareness of the Zip(r)
platform as the familiar way to easily share, protect
and store valuable digital content. The campaign also
introduces two innovative new consumer electronics products:
the HipZip(tm) Digital Audio Player and FotoShowTM Digital
Image Center. The HipZip player provides an affordable
way to enjoy and share digital audio recordings on the
company's 40MB PocketZipTM disks. PocketZip disks provide
about 80 minutes of music listening in a portable, durable
format for as little as $10 each. The FotoShow Image
Center connects to a television to function as a photo
viewer, editor, organizer and storage device, all without
the need for a computer.
"We wanted to re-position Iomega
as a brand leader by leveraging the company's equity
in their Zip product," said Mike Mazza, Publicis
& Hal Riney senior vice president/creative director.
"The approach is fresh and allows Iomega brand
recognition on a national level."
